The Band. The Myth. The Legend.

QueenCNN writer Holly Thomas shares a summary of Queen’s performance at the famous Live Aid charity concert, but also tells of her love for and experience with the band. Due to a recent resurgence of love for Queen after the movie β€œBohemian Rhapsody,” life long fans are reminiscing on one of the most famous performances depicted in the film. The writer practically grew up with Queen hearing about them when she was seven, and not long after she was heart-broken over Mercury’s death. She tells of how she was captivated by the band and the way Live Aid was a truly amazing performance for them, especially along such big names including U2. This performance captivated not only the great number of people in the crowd, but also those watching it from home, it is where many fell in love with Freddie Mercury’s unique voice. The songs of Queen are catchy and still have as large an impact today as they did when Mercury was alive to sing them.

Holly Thomas writes this article out of awe and infatuation for the famed band Queen, and she makes this known through her diction, and appeal to pathos. Describing the β€œlavish” β€œexuberance” of the band, and the β€œirresistible” voice of Mercury she shares her love for Queen. To captivate the audience more she appeals to pathos sharing her personal experiences that many share with her, hearing the band for the first time and the curiosity and emotions it sparked. She shares the emotions she felt when she first heard them, something any Queen fan old or young can relate to. She shares her view on the band and their Live Aid performance through elegant wording, but also brings up emotions that come fro the β€œmost bombastic hits” of the band.

I completely agree with the greatness of Queen portrayed in the article. I have been listening to Queen since I was young, and I have seen the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, and I believe the writer does an adequate job at describing the brand and their songs. I have also seen the Live Aid performance, and even though it happened before I was born I still greatly appreciate the performance and recognize the utter talent of Freddie Mercury vocally, as well as the band.
